What to Look for when Buying a Used Car

Making Young Driver Insurance More Competitive

It has always been extremely expensive and almost prohibitively so for a young driver to get adequate car insurance at an affordable price. This is because statistics tend to show that the likelihood of having an accident is up to five times greater during your first 250 hours of driving.

However, this has had an extremely negative effect on young drivers and often pushed them into taking out inadequate insurance policies or spending less on car maintenance to ensure they are driving a safe care as they simply cannot afford the insurance premiums and maintenance. Or it may also mean that drivers are more likely to drive without insurance which is very bad for themselves and other road users.

Therefore in the last 6 months car insurance providers have been under pressure to reduce the traditionally sky-high insurance premiums associated with young drivers insurance. (more...)

Junior driving experiences for children

When growing up, there are so many things that children want to do especially when they start to hit the adolescent age. Due to the fact that this is normal, many parents have began to understand this period of change and have devised ways and means to make sure their growing children are not dissuaded. Yes, this is the time when children can be influenced by friends easily. So why not give him or her most of the important things that their friends can never give which is enrolling them in the junior driving experience.

You can start or decide to tell your child the news on their birthdays and because; every child will love to drive, this will never come as a bad gift at all. In the United Kingdom, there are six junior driving experiences for children which includes the Junior first drive specially made for children within the ages of 12 to 16 years, the junior second drive, the junior third drive, the junior fourth drive, kids Ferrari experience, and the kids porch experience.

All these stages train the growing child and teach them how to drive and also how to face the driving field with less stress. The junior first drive is mostly done on a private course to ensure that; there is enough safety and also that your kids get to learn more. Only will your kid move to the junior second drive when he or she has been able to successfully complete the junior first drive. For both the first and second drives, they use a Mini Copper S for training then they can decide to take the DVLA theory test. (more...)

What to Look for when Buying a Used Car

When looking at used cars for sale there are a number of things to check to make sure you're not going to get a load of problems. Most people go straight to the car but the canny buyer might be better off to check the paperwork first because there’s really no point in going any further if all the documents with the car are not present and correct.

Try to ensure that the paperwork is genuine and not photocopied, and check first that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the logbook matches that displayed in the car, usually just under the front windscreen or on a metal plate in the engine bay. The latter has been known to be subject to substitution and a source of problems for car buyers unknowingly buying a “ringer”. The name and address recorded in the logbook as keeper should tally with that of the seller, unless it’s a dealer of course.

You should carefully examine the car’s service history to ensure that it matches up with the recorded mileage on the dashboard, and that regular servicing has been carried out, preferably by a main dealer. A careful owner will often keep receipts for services and repairs that have been done. (more...)
